About me.
My name is Jonathan Dong and I am an SNF Ambizione Fellow at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
I received a Ph.D. (2020) from École Normale Supérieure in Paris, France, and a M.Sc. (2016) in Physics from the same institution. My research spans machine learning theory, inverse problems, and computational imaging. I develop mathematical frameworks to understand neural network behavior through mean-field analysis, establish fundamental precision limits via Fisher information theory, and design algorithms that achieve these theoretical bounds. Applications range from phase retrieval in X-ray ptychography to uncertainty quantification in biomedical imaging.
